Well Done & An Update

“Well done” has become one of the most enjoyable things I get to say to my students. I don’t give it out flippantly, but only to those who have earned it. When they hear it, their eyes light up, and a smile brims on their face. It is a phrase that sparks a fire for deeper work and encouragement for a job well done.

As I have watched them diligently work and persevere through an assignment, my heart has been encouraged by their tenacity. I have also been convicted in my own life where I have not given my full effort to complete some tasks that the Lord has called me to do. It’s hard for me to accept my limitations, hello pride. I can’t do everything I want to. I don’t have all the time in the world. Yet, God doesn’t despise our limitations, but works mightily through them. At the same time, if he has called you to finish something, he will empower you to do it, but that might mean sacrificing something to say yes to completing it.

That’s where I am. There’s a project in my life that I have not given the attention and time that it needs. Writing weekly on my blog has been a joy, sometimes a challenge, and also more time-consuming than I thought. I can’t juggle them both faithfully. Therefore, starting this week for the foreseeable future, I will be posting every other Monday. This will give me the bandwidth needed to finish my other project.

Ultimately, whatever work we do, it is unto the Lord and not man. It is a gift and offering to him. I want to hear “well done” because He deserves the best because He has given us His best. He is worthy of our best effort. How we do our work matters. It is a testimony to whom we serve and to the world watching around us.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24
